PROJECT BACKGROUND
The 18th of September, 2017. Scotsman Mark Beaumont smashes the world record for the fastest male circumnavigation of the world by bicycle, arriving back in Paris in 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes after pedalling 18,032 miles around the planet.
Making history twice, Mark had earlier set another new world record for the most miles cycled in a month – achieving 7,031 miles between the 2nd and 31st of July 2017, travelling from Paris to Jerramungup, Western Australia.
An incredible achievement, Mark’s entire journey was broadcast to a loyal following via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and his website, designed and built by 80 DAYS.
During the course of his adventure the site was visited over 600,000 times from over 190 countries – such was the level of interest in the ultra endurance cyclist’s unending determination to succeed.
This led to the website winning two awards at The Lovie Awards 2017, the European equivalent of The Webby Awards.
